Kirby Wright was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. Before the City, Kirby's first book of poetry, took First Place at the 2004 San Diego Book Awards. Punahou Blues, his coming of age novel set in Honolulu, will be released by Lemon Shark Press in Summer 2005.
