The Ending
In a story – a girl takes her backpack and runs
into the forest. The mist, the green, the smell, and the quiet. She had been missing for 10 days before they remembered where they put her: In the news, her parents remained silent but the town sung of tumult. No child could have walked away like that. No child could ever wander off by themselves. & in a story there was a boy that lived with a jaguar and a bear or perhaps a dragon – deep into the unknown— happy. And what frightens us? Satisfaction found within ourselves? Autonomy to be what we are to be? In the forest a girl removes her shoes and meets a pack of wolves. She reaches out to them and wished to feel nothing but mud in between her toes. By Dominique C. Santos QLRS Vol. 16 No. 3 Jul 2017_____
