Sweet Basil
Given the right conditions,
we are inclined to believe in outcome. Loyalists to the cause assign them as seeds to their rows, measuring pH and fertilizer, topsoil and sticks. Expecting causality, evidence and potted reward. All any plant does is want to grow. So it is: the interminable conflict. I have never seen the rain fall quite so hard as it did this year, or the casualty of mother as she came in with the laundry tears bright as vines redressing the nature of a well-kept household.
