From where I came from,
Everything was black.
There was no color,
no sound — nothing
to disturb my peace.

Submerged in the depths
of the darkest sea,
it was pure bliss.
But suddenly a hand
fished me out of the calm.

My blood stirred. I felt
my body whole, felt
